paul and i are just the same

Jul 3, 2023

it’s thursday evening. the hummingbird is sitting on her nest, and i want to say something clever: i love you. deep feelings spoken aloud muster the most. it’s easier to write you letters at different times of day. to make you my muse without your knowing. to eat garden-fresh cucumbers as memories of your smile stretch the corners of my lips. to utter prayers that belong somewhere in the middle of the bible. paul never understood how a heart could fit more than god. but you, him, the garden, her, the trampoline, mountain hikes, florida sky, blue ocean, and all that is now and here bend in me just so.

Me standing in my garden.
